Where can I get support if I am coming out at Duke?

Duke Counseling and Psychological Services provides confidential assessment and brief counseling/therapy for students whose concerns range from the normal challenges of everyday life to more disruptive psychological concerns.

The LGBT Discussion Group is a group for people who are questioning their identity, dealing with family, looking for support while coming out, seeking deeper level conversations with others, having cultural or religious conflicts, etc. It is held on East Campus.

Dr. Janie Long is available to meet with any student who has questions or concerns. Making an appointment via e-mail is strongly encouraged. On Tuesdays from 1:30-5pm, Dr Long holds office hours in 208 Crowell Building on East Campus for those that find this location more convenient than the LGBT center.

Also, trained graduate student mentors are matched with students upon request. Mentors provide insight and knowledge about life as an LGBT/questioning student.  Contact Dr. Janie Long for more information.
